Youthinc was established in 2006 to assist disadvantaged youth in South Australia through a range of innovative leadership, employment and enterprise education programs. youthinc is a registered charity—but, we aim to operate along business lines, and our long-term vision is to derive most of our income from sustainable social business ventures. Put simply, we want to establish and run businesses that create jobs for long-term unemployed and other disadvantaged youth. Our focus is on re-engaging long-term unemployed & other young people aged 18-25+ years who are ‘at risk’ due to:

· Lack of education/qualifications
· Limited or no work history/experience/skill
· Low levels of personal confidence/resilience
· Lack of personal support
· Lack of resources (ID, transport, money)
· Mental health & personal issues

The Spin to Cure Diabetes

Held at Hindmarsh Square in Adelaide, the Spin to Cure Diabetes is an outdoor stationary bicycle competition. Each team, made up of five people, must “spin” for 40 minutes in a stationary “race” to see who can rack up the most mileage. Each team member has only 8 minutes to spin as hard and as fast as they can with the team that spins the furthest declared the winner.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) mission is ‘to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research’.

JDRF research has lead to the development of insulin pumps, new types of synthetic insulin, and has reduced the impact of diabetes complications such as blindness, kidney disease and heart disease.
